Board Seeks Applicants for Vision, Mission & Wellness Committee

The Board of Education is currently seeking applicants to serve as community members on the recently established Vision, Mission and Wellness (VMW) Committee.  The VMW committee is a special (ad hoc) Board committee that has been tasked to review, plan, research, update and draft the District’s Vision and Mission statements, as well as, a comprehensive Wellness Policy.  The Vision and Mission will be drafted using data-based research, as well as collaborative input from both District staff and Community members.  The research of the Wellness Policy will be focused on the 8 dimensions of Wellness as developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Each dimension will be researched, discussed, and findings evaluated for their relevance and incorporation into the CCSD Wellness Policy. The Wellness Policy will be a collaboration between the Board, District, and Community.   

Anticipated Time Commitment:

The Board seeks a commitment from community members to participate in a 20 month (86 week) plan of action.

Community positions available:

Applicants are being sought to participate in two capacities:

  1.  As a Core Committee member.  The Core Committee will be involved in every aspect of the research and the drafts. Core Committee members are expected to make an effort to attend all meetings. The Core Committee will accept accountability for delivering the final drafts of the Vision and Mission statement, and Wellness policy.
  1.  As a member of a Focus Group.  The Focus Group will not participate in the meetings and is anticipated to be utilized a minimum of twice in the 20 month plan of action.  The Focus Group will be required to review the final drafts of the statements and policy and offer their impressions of the drafts based on ease of understanding the drafts, as well as, remarks regarding content.

Requirements:

To qualify for consideration, a candidate must be and have been a resident of the District for at least one year, be 18 years of age or older, and be able to read and write.  Preference will be given to applicants with policy research and writing experience.
