October 18 was “Mix It Up At Lunch” day in the CMS cafeteria. Studies show that lunch is the time when social divisions among students are most apparent. To challenge social boundaries and foster positive relationships between different groups of students, all students were assigned to sit at tables with others who they don’t usually socialize with. The students were given fun challenges to work on together as a group, from interviewing one another about the things they like, to building structures out of marshmallows and straws. Part of Bully Prevention Month, this mix-it-up event was organized by our key communicator students and the guidance & counseling department.
