Grade 8 Moving Up Ceremony

Students symbolically said goodbye to middle school and hello to high school at our 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony, held the evening of June 15 in the Chatham High School auditorium. During the ceremony, CMS dean of students Mark Connelly called each 8th grader forward to stand and be recognized before taking a seat on the stage, all to the tune of 6th grader Lucia Bigelow, who played the piano throughout the processional. The evening also included remarks from superintendent Sal DeAngelo and CMS principal Mike Burns, performances from 8th grade chorus and jazz band members, presentation of student awards, and special recognition of retiring 8th grade science teacher Jason Kahn, for whom this was his last Moving Up Ceremony. After the event, the students headed to the Moving Up Dance hosted that evening at MED. Congratulations to our soon to be 9th graders!
