Chatham Middle School held it’s Arbor Day June 1st. A day-long event filled with fun and games, Arbor Day at CMS also includes a tree planting ceremony in honor of retiring staff. This year, the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade key communicators joined principal Mike Burns and dean of students Mark Connelly outside behind the soccer field to symbolically plant a red maple in honor of senior food service worker Barbara Fiero, teacher aid Nancy Doyle, teaching assistant Lynne O’Connell, math teacher and district teacher leader coach Judith Matthews, and 8th grade science teacher Jason Kahn. Each retiree had the honor of placing a shovelful of dirt at the base of the tree to cap off its planting.
