On October 26th all 4th grade students participated in a Conflict Resolution Workshop provided by Penny Cayler from Common Ground Dispute Resolution, Inc. in conjunction with their school counselor, Trisha Bradley. The workshop taught students conflict resolution techniques that they can utilize in their everyday lives. It also covered the concepts of mediation, conflict styles, perception and preconceived ideas in addition to recognizing invisible emotional challenges that can be underlying issues of conflict. The students participated in various activities to gain a better understanding of these concepts and to gain insight into their personal responsibilities in conflict situations. This presentation was made possible through a grant from the Office of Child and Family Services and the Greene County Youth Bureau.
