Chatham Team Makes IMPACT at Siena Competition

CHS math teacher Katharine Curtis took two teams of four students each to Siena College for the 11th annual Students IMPACT (Interested in Mathematics and Problem solving but unAware of Computer Talent) Program. The IMPACT program seeks to connect high school juniors and seniors who have demonstrated academic talent, especially in mathematics, but who have not studied computer science before, with the rapidly growing industry of computer information systems. This year’s event took place October 13.

Siena faculty taught the students mini lessons on various computer science topics and then the teams participated in a friendly competition that put what they learned to work. Chatham’s “senior” team of Kayla Ruff, Lily Witaszek, Eliza Klingler, and Jackie Rickert placed 3rd overall out of 24 teams from around the Capital District!
