Congratulations to senior Geetika Verma, who was recognized as the 2016-2017 Outstanding Business Education Student for Chatham High School. Each year, local school districts’ business departments recognize a student who has taken numerous business classes and has exhibited outstanding academic achievement, citizenship, and a positive attitude. The Business and Marketing Educators’ Association of the Capital District (BMEA) sponsored an awards dinner May 4th at the Radisson Hotel in Albany to recognize Geetika along with other outstanding business students from area schools.
“Geetika has not only taken the most business classes of any senior, she has excelled like no other,” Chatham business teacher Michael Loomis said. “Geetika challenges herself, knowing the value of her education and the pursuit of excellence in all that she does.”
Geetika plans to attend RPI, where she will major in Biology, to eventually become a pediatrician. She is a member of the Business and Marketing Honors Society of NYS, president of Chatham High School’s National Honor Society chapter and Students Against Destructive Decisions chapter, and secretary of the student government. She is also a HOBY Leadership participant, a member of her school’s Yellow Ribbon suicide prevention team, and a 2016 Questbridge Scholarship finalist. Geetika was also a 2nd team Patroon Conference Tennis All-Star for the last two years. In her free time she volunteers for several organizations.
Congratulations to Geetika from Mr. Loomis and from the teachers, administration, and staff at Chatham High School.
