Chatham Halfback Josh Keyes 'Player of the Year'
Josh Keyes, who set 14 school records in his junior year, has received a number of awards recently. On Thursday, the Albany Times-Union named him Small School First-Team Running Back and Small School Offensive Most Valuable Player. Over the weekend, Keyes was named the Class C Player of the Year and the Class C South Player of the Year. And at Chatham, he was the Football Player of the Year.
From the Times Union:
"In his third varsity season, Keyes established a school record by carrying the ball 163 times for 2,064 yards and 36 touchdowns. That included a 402-yard, seven-touchdown performance against Watervliet . ... 'Josh is a very quiet leader. When things got tough for us, he would say 'give me the ball' and he would get us out of trouble. I put a highlight package together of our season and it wound up being mostly a highlight package of Josh,' Chatham coach Mark Dwyer said."
