Chatham Board of Ed seeks volunteers for new Public Library Advisory Committee
The Chatham Board of Education is looking for volunteers from the community to sit on its newly created Public Library Advisory Committee. This committee will make recommendations to the Board regarding policy, personnel and operations of the Chatham Public Library.
The new committee will consist of five Chatham Central School District community members to be selected by the Board of Education, two Board of Education members and two non-voting members-one being a representative of the Friends of Chatham Public Library and one the Superintendent of Schools or a designee. The Board of Education anticipates selecting the community members in September, 2010.
The Board of Education oversees the operation of the Chatham Public Library, one of only two public libraries in New York State that are within school districts. The Board voted to establish the Public Library Committee on August 10, 2010 to provide for the level of support and oversight typical of other public libraries.
Anyone interested in being on the Public Library Advisory Committee is asked to submit a letter of interest and a resume or summary of qualifications by September 10, 2010 to: Dr. John Wapner, President, Chatham Central School District Board of Education, 50 Woodbridge Avenue, Chatham, NY 12037.
