Gilligan Named Heisman State Finalist
This week, Chatham High School senior Caitlin Gilligan was named a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist for NY.
As a finalist, the Heisman committee has recognized Caitlin as a student athlete who embodies the Heisman spirit, demonstrating hard work and dedication through her outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and leadership. She plays on the CHS soccer, basketball and softball teams, and has balanced being a three-season athlete with earning grades that put her at the top of her class.
“Caitlin a very hard working and highly intelligent person,” said athletic director Scott Steltz. “She deserves this recognition and embodies what the Chatham athletic program is all about.”
She is one of only 20 NY finalists (10 girls and 10 boys) that were chosen from over 1,200 applicants from across the state. The Heisman committee will announce the NYS winners on November 5th. If selected as a finalist, Caitlin will then be in the running for a national Heisman award.
Each year, the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program honors the nation’s most esteemed high school senior athletes through its partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy® Committee.
