Muriel Faxon Appointed to Board of Education
The Board of Education appointed Muriel Faxon to an 11-month term on the Board. Faxon was sworn in during the Board’s July 3rd organizational meeting. Faxon will fill the unexpired term of Francis Iaconnetti, who resigned in April. The appointment runs from July 3, 20l2 to May 21, 2013, at which time the remainder of the term will be filled by general election.
Faxon has been active in the Chatham community all her life, and until recently, owned and operated the Chatham Bookstore on Main St. In the past, Faxon served three five-year terms on the Board of Education.
“The school district has always been a passion for me. I was born in Chatham, I graduated from Chatham, my five children graduated from Chatham,” said Faxon about her desire to serve on the Board of Education again. “I am absolutely looking forward to it. With my retirement this January, it is a wonderful time for me to get my hat back in the ring.”
The Board selected Faxon for the open position after advertising for applicants and interviewing eligible candidates who applied.
