CMS Announces February Students of the Month
Chatham Middle School is proud to recognize Brendan Ooms, Holden Leavenworth, Jessica Adee, Mark Haywood, and Tara Shetsky as recipients of the Student of the Month award for February. The award highlights the positive character traits that these students have demonstrated in the classroom.
One Student of the Month is selected from each grade, as well as the school’s encore team. As part of their recognition, these five students enjoy a pizza luncheon with interim principal Annemarie Barkman, and receive a certificate of recognition, a pin and a Chatham Panthers water bottle. The pizzas for the luncheon are donated by Brian Kellog, the owner of Pizza Den in Chatham.
Brendan Ooms was selected as the 5th grade student of the month for his outstanding attitude toward his schoolwork. Brendan writes in his planner every day and completes all of his homework. He also participates in class with great enthusiasm.
Holden Leavenworth was named 6th grade student of the month because he is a conscientious student who works hard on his academics and does what it takes to complete all his assignments. Holden is also a fine citizen with a great sense of humor. He often assists peers with tasks, takes on a leadership role when working collaboratively, and has a great ability to work well with all learning styles.
Jessica Adee is the 7th grade’s student of the month. Jessica continues to have a great year: she is one of the most creative students in the building and often uses her artistic ability to show her keen insightfulness. She sets an example of how to advocate for oneself in the classroom, and her enthusiasm and interest in learning are exemplary.
Mark Haywood was chosen as the 8th grade student of the month based on his conscientiousness and hard work. Mark has endeared himself to his teachers with his good manners.
Tara Shetsky is the encore team’s student of the month. The seventh grader always works hard and is thoughtful, considerate and willing to help out her classmates. Her teachers consider Tara a delight to have in class.
