Six Chatham Teams Recognized as Scholar Athlete Teams
Six Chatham High School fall athletic teams were named scholar athlete teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). The honor is reserved for athletic teams whose realize a high degree of academic success while balancing the rigors of a full extracurricular schedule. For the fall, 2011 sports season, Chatham’s football, girls’ varsity volleyball, girls’ tennis, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, and girls’ cross country teams all received the scholar athlete recognition.
In order to qualify as a scholar athlete team, the team must collectively hold a GPA of 90 or better with at least the minimum amount of students required by the NYSPHSAA. The number of students required to meet this standard varies by the size of the team, but always represents a majority of the athletes on the team.
Any student athlete on that team may be used who has an 85 average or better. Each student whose average was used received a scholar athlete pin.

Girls' varsity volleyball- 8 student average of 90.625

Girls' Soccer- 16 student (whole team) average of 93.94

Boys' soccer-14 student average of 90.43

Girls' tennis- 11 student average of 93.09

Girls' cross country- 8 student average of 90.63

Football- 12 student average of 91.75
