Music

My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it, and you simply take as much as you require.

~Edward Elgar

Welcome to MED Music!

Students at MED attend music class once every six days.  Here they actively explore music in a variety of ways: singing, dancing, listening, improvising, composing, playing classroom instruments, and reading rhythms and pitches.  Our program draws upon the pedagogies of Orff, Kodaly, and Gordon and aims to create well-rounded and enthusiastic musicians.

Additionally, fourth graders may choose to participate in chorus, nicknamed the “Chatham Canaries”.  The Canaries perform a traditional winter concert, sing the National Anthem at a local basketball game, and perform in a spring musical.  We are proud that our program has grown to about 95% voluntary participation!

I welcome you to read about our curriculum, report card, and upcoming events.  Enjoy!
