Fourth-Graders Raise Trout
Students in MED's Fourth Grade have begun the Trout in the Classroom program. Each class has a 55-gallon fish tank that members of the maintenance crew filled with fresh water from Cold Springs on Route 66. The trout eggs arrived Oct. 13. The students will care for and raise the trout through their first few growth stages and eventually release them as fingerlings into the Kinderhook Creek in the spring. "We would like to both thank and give recognition ... to those who helped with filling the 55-gallon fish tanks in each of our Fourth Grade classrooms," said the teachers. "Those individuals would be Bill Visscher, Teri Howard, Mike Burrows and Lester Tyski."
