Music Theory
Most of the techniques used in western music theory began during the last
couple millenia in Europe. The rise of the Catholic Church made music in Europe
much more uniform; before then, most music there developed in local "folk"
settings.
Music is divided into three basic components: Rhythm, melody, and harmony.
