About Me

I graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1998, attended James Madsion University, and then transferred to Siena College where I earned my BA in mathematics. I earned my Master's from Mass. College of Liberal Arts.

My husband is a dairy farmer at Dutch Hollow Farm in Schodack Landing. My adorable son Zachary (right) was born 1/9/07. We are excited to be expecting an addition to our family at the end of December.

Class Policies

Goals:

to increase student’s knowledge of geometry
to develop problem solving skills
to prepare for the Geometry Regents Exam
to use technology to investigate, find and verify solutions to problems

Evaluation:

Classwork: Students are expected to participate in every part of class. Class will be a variety of teacher presentations, individual work, and group work.
Homework: Completing homework is essential to success in Geometry. Homework will be worth 100 points a quarter. Everyone will start with 100. I will be checking if you have your homework each day. If it is complete and work is shown then you will get 0 points taken away. If it is half done or no work is shown then you will get 1 point off. If you do not have it at all then it is 2 points off. You may get one point back if you show it to me the next day. Homework will not be accepted after the one day late.
Problems of the Week (PoWs): Each Monday you will be assigned a problem of the week. They will be due Friday. These could be related to what we are doing that week or not. They will also include problems that prepare you for the Regents. You will have to explain how you did the problem. These will be worth 10 points each. PoWs will not be accepted late after one week. Late PoWs within the week will have a penalty of 2 points off.
Quizzes: Announced quizzes will be given once or twice a week. They will be 15 to 30 points.
Tests: Tests will be given at the end of each chapter and will be worth 100 points. A midterm exam will be given and count as two tests for your 2nd quarter grade. Your final exam will count as a fifth of your final grade.

Averages: Averages will be calculated by dividing all points earned by the
total points possible and multiplying by 100. Homework grades will not be part of progress report grades. They will be entered in at the end of the quarter.

Extra Help: I will be available after school from 2:25-3:00. I will announce
in class if I am unable to stay. Review sessions will be held at the end of the year for the final exam and Regents exam.

Missed Work: If you are absent, YOU are responsible to make up work as
soon as you return. You are responsible to show me homework you have missed. If possible, you should check my webpage for what you have missed. If a test or quiz is missed, you are expected to take it as soon as possible (within a week). If it is not made up within a week, it is a zero. Also, if it was an illegal absence or tardy, you will receive a zero. If you are in school and miss class, you are still expected to have the homework the next day.

Class Expectations:

No talking while the teacher is talking.
Follow directions when they are given.
Be to class on time and begin directions on the board.
You must ask and sign out to leave the room.
Be prepared for class.

Consequences:

1st offense: warning

2nd offense: detention

3rd offense: referral
