Meeting Agendas, Minutes, and District Policies

The Chatham Board of Ed uses BoardDocs, a paperless meetings system, for our meeting agendas and associated documents. To access agendas, meeting minutes, and District policies please visit our BoardDocs website... 

To view meeting agendas and minutes, click on the "Meetings" tab and then select the year, and then the date of the meeting you wish to view, then choose to view either the Agenda or Minutes. When selecting an agenda, it will display on the left hand side of the screen. You can navigate through the agenda by clicking on the individual agenda items, which will open for display. The archive for minutes prior to May, 2015 is available under the "Library" tab.

The nine members of Chatham's Board of Education are volunteers who are elected to three-year terms and receive no pay. A president and vice president are selected each year at the July organizational meeting. The Board acts as a collective body to establish the policies under which the Chatham Central School District operates. The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for administering the school program within the context of these policies. Learn more about the role of Board of Education members...

Board Candidate Petitions Now Available

Board candidate petitions will be available starting Friday, March 17, 2017 from the District Clerk in the Superintendent’s Office at the Mary E. Dardess Elementary building between the hours of 8:00 – 4:00. The following seats are to be filled on the Board of Education:
Expiring Term – Teri Conte (current incumbent) commencing July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2020
Expiring Term – Chris Kelly (current incumbent) commencing July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2020
Expiring Term – Edward Knight (current incumbent) commencing July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2020
The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will fill the three 3-year terms.

Petitions must be filed not later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 in the Office of the District Clerk, located at the Mary E. Dardess Elementary School. Each nominating Petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, and shall state the name and the residence of the candidate and each signer.

The order of names and candidates on the ballot for school boards will be determined by lot on April 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Candidates are invited to attend. Chapter 151 of the Laws of 1981 requires that a campaign expenditure statement be filed with the Commissioner of Education and the Clerk of the school district if over $500, and only with the Clerk of the school district if less than $500, to the effect that the expenditures did not exceed $500.

The election to fill the three open seats is part of the School Budget Vote Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Mary E. Dardess Elementary School gymnasium.

In order to be eligible to serve on the Board, a candidate:  
Must be able to read and write;
Must be a qualified voter of the district (citizen of the US and at least 18 years of age or older);
Must be and have been a resident of the District for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year;
Cannot be employed by the Board on which he or she serves.
