Fifth grade students celebrated their moving on to sixth grade and the Middle School with a Moving Up Ceremony held June 14th in the CHS auditorium.
To start off the event, principal Kristen Reno congratulated the students on their completion of elementary school. The entire fifth grade put on a musical performance for the audience, then each class called their soon-to-be sixth graders to the stage to receive their individual “moving up” certificates. Hay Award winner Brody Cassivant read from his writing sample detailing his experience dissecting a cow’s eye. The fifth grade’s top Math Olympiad finishers (Owen Wilber, Phila Visconti, Cooper Steltz, Rylie Barden, Elijah Shor, Liam Drowne, 2nd highest scorer Eliza Braley, and top scorer Meta Mae Mountain) were also recognized, as was the Knitting Club for their efforts knitting hats for preemies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Albany Med. The event wrapped up with a slide show highlighting Nature’s Classroom and remarks from CMS principal Mike Burns.
