Voting on the proposed School Budget and Board of Education Election takes place Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Mary E. Dardess Elementary School gym.
Chatham’s Board of Education adopted a proposed budget for the 2019-20 school year that totals $31,583,390 and carries a projected tax levy increase of 1.24 percent, which stays at the limit set by New York State’s property tax cap. Spending is down $352,915, a 1.11 percent decrease from the 2018-19 budget.
There are five candidates running for five open seats on the Board, who will appear on the ballot in the following order:
Voters will also be asked to decide on a proposition allowing a Chatham High School student to serve on the Board of Education as a non-voting member.
