Cyber Safety

Chris Smith, a Task Force Officer with the FBI, visited CMS the morning of December 7 to speak with seventh and eighth graders about staying safe on the Internet. Smith investigates cybercrime in the Capital Region and shared several examples of real-life predators he has encountered attempting to lure children online, often posing as children themselves. He gave the students tips on how to increase their privacy, stay vigilant, and avoid potential threats while using social media and other online applications, as well as told them what to do if they ever suspect something may be wrong. Sixth graders will have their cyber safety assembly December 13.
