The Witch (Amelia Scheriff) accosts the Baker (Anthony Reyome, Jr), his Wife (Jennifer Albrecht) and a Cow (Alexis Berry) in Chatham Middle School’s production “Into the Woods, Jr.”

The CMS Drama Club presented Into the Woods Jr. November 16 – 18 in the CMS auditorium. Written by James Lapine with music by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods Jr. is based on the Broadway production which won several Tony Awards, including Best Score and Best Book. The musical followed a Baker, played by Anthony Reyome, and his Wife, played by Jenny Albrecht, who learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door (Amelia Scheriff). The couple embarks on a quest – swindling, deceiving and stealing from such already-victimized characters as Cinderella (Alexis Reichardt), Little Red Riding Hood (Addison Perry), Rapunzel (Anna Miles) and Jack (John Miles) – to get the special objects required to break the spell. However, the story doesn’t simply end “happily ever after” as each character must now face the consequences of his or her decision.
