At its special meeting on October 17, the Board of Education appointed Matthew Fisch, of Chatham, and Carol Wilber, of Spencertown, to fill two vacant seats on the Board. Both Mr. Fisch and Ms. Wilber are lifelong residents of Columbia County. Mr. Fisch is a CCSD parent and entrepreneur in the field of information technology, while Ms. Wilber has a communications background in both the public and private sectors, and served previously on the Chatham Board of Education from 1989-1997. The two were sworn in and took their seats on the Board at its October 23 meeting. They will serve terms lasting until May 21, 2019, at which time both seats will be filled by the general election.
The vacancies were due to the resignation of Winnie Hoffman-Legere in August and of Dave O’Connor this October. The Board had put out a public call for applicants in September and conducted interviews of the respondents on October 17, prior to making the appointments.
