Board of Education candidate nominating petitions are now available from the District Clerk in the Superintendent’s Office at the Mary E. Dardess Elementary building between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The following seats are to be filled on the Board during the May 15, 2018 election:
Expiring Term – Denise Barry commencing July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2021 (3-year term)
Expiring Term – Beth Hover commencing July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2021 (3-year term)
Expiring Term – David O’Connor commencing July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2021 (3-year term)
Unexpired Term – Dawn Blasl (Sarah Mellin-current incumbent) commencing May 16, 2018 – June 30, 2020 (2-year term)
Expiring Term – Melony Spock (Thomas Luzzi-current incumbent) commencing May 16, 2018 – June 30, 2019 (1-year term)
The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will fill the three 3-year terms. The next highest vote-getter will fill the 2-year term and the next highest vote-getter after that will fill the 1-year term.
Petitions must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Office of the District Clerk at the Mary E. Dardess Elementary School. Each nominating Petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, and shall state the name and the residence of the candidate and each signer.
The order of names and candidates on the ballot for school boards will be determined by a drawing on April 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Candidates are invited to attend. Chapter 151 of the Laws of 1981 requires that a campaign expenditure statement be filed with the Commissioner of Education and the Clerk of the school district if over $500, and only with the Clerk of the school district if less than $500, to the effect that the expenditures did not exceed $500.
